Our Favorite Pepper Steak

My husband and I love pepper steak. Love it. I have been playing with pepper steak recipes for some time now and I have finally found one that we love, with a few alterations of course. We haven't had it for awhile for one reason or another, it kept getting pushed back. So we finally were able to make this Friday This recipe is adapted from Cooking Light. It has just enough sauce, the meat turns out tender every time and the peppers are just crisp enough. Yummy!

Pepper Steak

Cooking spray
2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
2 tablespoons bottled minced garlic object
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/8 teaspoon black pepper
1 pound sirloin steak, trimmed and cut across the grain into 1/4-inch-thick strips
1 cup green and red pepper strips
1/2 cup sliced onions
2/3 cup beef broth
2 teaspoons low-sodium soy sauce
1 teaspoon dark sesame oil

Instructions

Heat a large nonstick skillet coated with cooking spray over medium-high heat. Combine flour and next 4 ingredients (flour through steak), tossing to coat. Add beef mixture to pan; sauté about 3 minutes. Add bell pepper and remaining ingredients to pan; cover and cook about 10 minutes or until the peppers are crisp-tender, stirring occasionally.

We serve this with plain white rice and when I feel spunky, wontons. But I wasn't that spunky this night, so no wontons. :o)
