Taco Noodles...no....FRENCH TOAST!!

Last night I made a fabulous sounding taco noodle dish in my crockpot. What does that have to do with french toast you ask? Well, when my crockpot decided to burn yet ANOTHER meal (I was lucky to get that meatloaf out of it the other night), we needed something to eat for supper without eating out. Sure it was tempting to order a pizza but we just went to the store. That would be silly. Delicious, but silly. So my husband suggested french toast. I thought about it and decided that it had been forever since we had this wonderful suggestion plus it would be easy to chew (I am sure you all are tired of hearing about my teeth...that makes 2 of us!), so french toast it is. I don't really follow an exact recipe but I make it very similar to how my dad has made it for years. I must say that although it's always better when my dad does make it for us, mine has become pretty good also!

Dad's French Toast (well, mine now!)
6 slices of bread

5 eggs
milk -about 1/4 cup or so, eyeball it
a splash heavy cream
2 tsp or so cinnamon

dash of nutmeg

powdered sugar
syrup

In bowl, beat eggs until combined. Add milk and dash of cream, cinnamon and nutmeg. Mix until combined and bubbly. Preheat griddle and spray with nonstick spray. Dip bread in egg mixture and carefully place on griddle. Repeat, making sure to leave just enough room between the slices of bread. Sprinkle with just a bit more cinnamon. Allow to brown, flip carefully. It usually takes about 3-4 minutes on each side. We like our really done, if you like softer french toast, you would want to turn them after 2-3 minutes. Remove from griddle, sprinkle with powdered sugar. Serve with butter and syrup. Yummy!

I love french toast! Maybe I will make some tomorrow for breakfast.

Have you seen the recipe for french bagels on my blog? They are awesome!
